A driveway is the largest single surface most people see when they arrive at your property, and it is the first to show its age. Rainwater, shade and Kent's mild damp winters leave block paving green, concrete streaked and stone dull long before the surface itself has worn out.

We clean driveways with professional pressure-cleaning equipment, including rotary surface cleaners, and select the most appropriate method for the surface and the level of soiling. Rotary heads give an even, mark-free finish on most flat paving; heavily soiled or heavily weeded areas sometimes need a different approach first. On block paving we finish by re-sanding the joints with kiln-dried sand as standard, once the surface has dried enough to take it.

Block paving is the most common driveway surface in Kent and the one that shows neglect fastest. Once the jointing sand washes low, weeds and moss colonise the gaps, blocks start to shift and the whole drive looks tired. Concrete, natural stone, resin-bound and tarmac-adjacent surfaces all come up well too, cleaned with a method matched to the material.

    Rotary cleaning heads keep pressure and distance consistent across the whole slab or block, which is what stops the tramline effect.

    Aged concrete, soft stone and imprinted surfaces all behave differently. We test an area first and adjust rather than blasting everything at maximum.

  • Re-sanding included as standard

    Cleaning block paving removes the old jointing sand along with the dirt, so we replace it with kiln-dried sand as standard once conditions allow. This restores interlock between the blocks and gives weeds and moss far less to root into.

  • Tidied on completion

    Silt and washed-out debris are cleared from paths, drains and borders before we leave.

    Professional pressure-cleaning equipment, including rotary heads where suitable, then detail the edges and awkward corners by lance.

    Rinse and re-sand

    Wash the run-off away, then re-sand block paving with kiln-dried sand as standard once the surface has dried enough to take it.

Block paving cleaning and re-sanding

Block paving is bedded and jointed on sand. Over time that jointing sand washes out and the gap fills with organic silt, which is exactly what moss and weeds need to establish. Cleaning lifts the moss and algae off the block faces, but it also washes out whatever sand is left in the joints.

That is why kiln-dried sand re-sanding is included as standard after we clean block paving, applied once the surface has dried enough to take it. Brushing and vibrating fresh sand into every joint restores the interlock that stops blocks rocking underfoot or under a car wheel, and it gives weeds and moss far less to root into.

Where joints are heavily colonised with weeds or established moss, we clear that growth by hand before cleaning, and we treat the surface for organic growth as part of the standard process on suitable driveways — this is included, not a paid extra, though we do not promise growth will never return in a damp Kent garden.

Concrete, natural stone, resin and other surfaces

Concrete and imprinted concrete are assessed for condition before we choose pressure and method, since older or scabbed concrete needs a gentler approach. Natural stone setts and cobbles clean up well at a controlled pressure. Resin-bound surfaces are cleaned at low pressure to avoid disturbing the aggregate, and shingle-edged or mixed-surface drives are treated section by section.

Whatever the surface, we select the most appropriate method and equipment for the level of soiling rather than applying one setting to everything.

Driveway Cleaning FAQs

How long does a driveway clean take?

Most domestic driveways take between two and five hours. Size, the amount of moss and whether re-sanding is needed are the main factors.

Will pressure washing damage my block paving?

Sound block paving handles professional cleaning well. Damage usually comes from too much pressure held too close, so we test an area and work at a controlled distance. Where blocks are already spalling or the base has failed, we will tell you before starting.

Do you re-sand block paving afterwards?

Yes, as standard. Cleaning washes out the old jointing sand, so we brush in fresh kiln-dried sand once the surface has dried enough to take it — this is included in the job, not an optional extra.

Do you treat moss and weeds in the joints?

Yes. Clearing weeds and moss from the joints and treating the surface for organic growth is part of our standard process on suitable driveways, not a paid upgrade. We cannot promise it will never come back, but it slows regrowth noticeably.

Do you seal block paving?

Ask us when you enquire. Sealing is a separate decision that depends on the paving, its age and what you want from the finish, and it is best done once the drive has been fully cleaned and re-sanded.

Can you remove oil stains?

We can usually reduce them considerably with a degreasing treatment, but we do not promise complete removal. Oil that has soaked deep into porous concrete or unsealed block often leaves a shadow.

Do you need to use my water and electricity?

We normally use an outside tap. Tell us if you do not have one and we will discuss options when we quote.
