None of this is complicated, and we will work around it if something is not possible. But every item below is something that has genuinely slowed a job down at some point, so it is worth a quick read the day before we come.
Access and parking
We need to get the van reasonably close and get round the property on foot.
- Move cars off the drive, and off the section of road directly outside if you can.
- Unlock side gates, or let us know where a key is.
- Shut dogs and cats indoors while we are working outside.
- Tell us about anything fragile — a septic tank cover, a water feature, low-voltage lighting.
Water and power
Most jobs run from an outside tap. If you do not have one, tell us when you book and we will bring water with us instead — it is not a problem, but it changes how we set up.
We do not normally need your electricity supply.
Windows, doors and belongings
Close and latch all windows and roof lights before we start, including in the loft and conservatory. Bring in washing, cushions, and anything on the patio or drive that you do not want moved.
Garden furniture, pots and bins are best shifted clear of the area being cleaned; if that is awkward we will move them and put them back.
Plants and drainage
The biocides we use are applied at controlled dilution and we rinse and protect planting around the work area. If you have anything particularly precious close to the surface being cleaned, point it out and we will cover it.
We manage run-off so slurry goes to the right place rather than into borders or straight down a surface water drain.
Afterwards
Keep off a freshly re-sanded block paved drive for a few hours where you can, and expect a cleaned patio or drive to look slightly different wet than it will once dry. We will walk you round the finished work if you are home, and send photographs if you are not.
The short version
- Clear access and moved cars save the most time on the day.
- Tell us in advance if there is no outside tap — we can bring water.
- Close every window and roof light, including the conservatory.
- Point out delicate planting and we will cover it before we start.
