Driveway cleaning is one of those jobs where quotes from three companies can differ by hundreds of pounds, and the reason is almost never greed — it is that they are quoting for different work. One price is a quick wash-off; another includes weed and moss treatment, kiln-dried re-sanding and a biocide finish that keeps the drive clean for years rather than weeks.
Here is how pricing actually works on a Kent driveway, so you can compare like with like.
Typical price ranges
As a working guide for 2026, and always subject to seeing the drive:
- Small single-car drive, roughly 20–30 m²: around £150–£220.
- Standard two-car block paved drive, roughly 40–60 m²: around £220–£340.
- Large detached drive or drive plus paths, 70 m² and up: around £340–£450+.
- Sealing, where the surface suits it, is normally quoted separately on top.
What actually moves the price
Square metres are only the starting point. In practice the biggest swings come from condition and access.
- Surface: block paving takes longer than concrete or tarmac because of the joints and the re-sanding afterwards.
- Contamination: years of moss, weed root and black spot lichen take several passes, not one.
- Access: distance from a water supply and parking, plus gates and steps, all add time.
- Re-sanding: kiln-dried sand is included as standard on our block paving work, but it is not universal — check.
- Extras: weed and moss treatment, oil stain work and sealing are separate line items.
What should always be in the price
A fair driveway quote includes the pre-treatment, the clean itself, joint re-sanding on block paving, and clearing away the slurry rather than washing it into your borders or the road drain.
If a quote is dramatically cheaper than the others, it is usually missing the treatment and the re-sanding — which is exactly why that drive greens up again by the following spring.
Getting an accurate figure
We quote in writing, from photographs or a visit, with no call-out fee. If you send a couple of pictures of the drive and rough dimensions, you will get a fixed price back rather than a range — and it will say what is included.
Prices in Maidstone, Tonbridge and the Medway towns are broadly consistent; the outliers are usually access-driven rather than postcode-driven.
The short version
- Most Kent driveway cleans fall between roughly £150 and £450.
- Surface type, contamination and access move the price more than area alone.
- Kiln-dried re-sanding should be included on block paving, not charged as an extra.
- A much cheaper quote usually means treatment and re-sanding have been left out.
